Pimsleur have a number of audio based courses, their main course being “Comprehensive”. There are 3 levels starting at beginner and each consists of 30 x 30min audio lessons that are designed to be taken one a day. The lessons follow a conversational format where you hear a native speaker speak and you reply yourself. Pimsleur is very well established and covers many languages.

Positive Points
I started out in Spanish using the Pimsleur course and really enjoyed it. I think its a great way to get into conversational language learning.
Negative Points
I did get to a point where I felt the audio method alone wasn’t enough. At that point I went away and studied the grammar that was being used and then I felt I could make more progress with the audio lessons again, but I think you do need more than just the audio. Another thing is that it teaches fairly formal Spanish compared to some more recent Audio courses like Rocket Spanish.
Oh yeah, and its VERY expensive!!
The Verdict
It gave me a great start in Spanish, I do think the audio lessons are great but there are much cheaper courses out there that have a less one dimensional approach.
